description

1.5 years ago, a client from Zurich, Switzerland, approached us with a new idea: to create a line of scented candles that capture the essence of Switzerland's famous locations, allowing customers to bring a piece of that experience into their homes.

Our role was to take this concept and bring it to life through web design, product design, branding, and illustration. The result? In just three months, we completed the full production and successfully launched the website and next half of the year where the product design was changed. The business now exists and thrives, even earning an honorable mention for our website design.

collaboration on illustrations

For the illustrations, we collaborated closely with our client and created detailed descriptions of each scent. After that we selected photos of Swiss locations that represented these scents and provided them to our artist, ensuring the illustrations would align with the product's essence and design. To enhance the customer experience, we decided to emboss certain elements of the illustrations, giving the product a tactile dimension.

Recognizing that the product experience starts with unboxing, we also focused on the wrap design. We chose a classic Swiss pattern, understanding that while it might be common, it holds significant meaning for tourists who visit Switzerland. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with some customers even reusing the wrap for other gifts.

early launch with 3D renders

To expedite the launch, we opted to create 3D renders of the candles instead of waiting for the physical products to be ready. This approach is not uncommon in the industry—for example, IKEA frequently uses renders in their catalogs. By integrating these renders into the website, we were able to start showcasing the products early on

Following the successful launch, the business owner decided to switch to recycled materials for the candle holders to make production more environmentally friendly. This change required us to update the website and product design to reflect the new materials. We redesigned the site to move away from its initial "festival" look, opting for a more straightforward and user-friendly interface. We also revamped the logo, drawing inspiration from the Swiss canton shield to emphasize the product’s origins.
